Dalsland Studio 2027 plans: Do you have any ideas you’d like to bring to life?

As mentioned in the July update, we intend to open Dalslands Studio more widely in 2027 to groups, families and individuals who wish to spend a few days or a week finding peace, reflecting and gaining new perspectives – in the heart of the Dalsland countryside, right by the Dalsland Canal.

Construction work is progressing. As the building is extended, additional possibilities are emerging step by step: spaces for guests, discussions, collaborative work, retreat and socialising. But a house does not become a place where something can flourish simply through walls, windows, beds and a beautiful location. What matters most are the people who come up with an idea – and the question of what they would like to do, explore or share with one another here.

We are expanding our scope

Building on our previous experience with seminars, camps and gatherings, we aim to open Dalslands Studio specifically to smaller-scale initiatives:

  • Small groups wishing to work intensively on a shared theme
  • Writers, translators and researchers who need time and space to work on a project
  • Families on the autism spectrum seeking a quiet, low-stimulus environment to spend time together
  • People facing challenging everyday or transitional situations who would like to gain some perspective for a few days
  • Seminar leaders, coaches, artists and initiatives with an idea for a small retreat, a workshop or a camp
  • Groups of friends and families who don’t just want to go on holiday, but wish to spend time together, cook, go for walks and have new conversations

Our aim is not to create a standardised programme that looks the same for everyone. Rather, we want to develop a place that takes different needs seriously: the desire for peace and quiet as well as for exchange; the opportunity to be alone as well as the experience of community; focused work as well as simple days by the water, in the woods or in the kitchen.

Do you have an idea?

Perhaps you’ve been mulling over a project for some time:

  • A writing week with just a few people
  • A seminar on society, history, AI, democracy or critical thinking
  • A creative camp for people with special needs
  • An artistic work or exhibition project
  • A small series of talks on a topic that’s important to you
  • A family holiday with plenty of space for different paces
  • A format that lies somewhere between nature, learning, culture and relaxation, and is difficult to accommodate elsewhere

If so, we’d love to talk to you about it.

Dalslands Studio is not intended to be a place where only fully formed concepts are ‘booked’. It can also be a place where an idea first takes shape: through conversation, during a visit, with an initial small experiment, or together with people who share an interest in a particular topic.

A place with time

Dalsland is not a backdrop to be consumed in a hurry. The lakes, forests, paths and the changing light invite you to slow down. When you arrive here, it often takes a while to realise just how much everyday life, appointments and constant availability dictate your own rhythm.

In 2027, we’d like to offer a setting in which this experience becomes possible – without the pressure to perform and without the expectation that every stay must immediately yield a visible result. Some ideas need a clear work plan. Others initially need nothing more than time, a table, a kitchen, a path by the water and people with whom you can talk in peace.

Feel free to get in touch

If you have an idea, a wish or a potential format for 2027, please do write to us. Even vague thoughts are welcome. Perhaps this will lead to a seminar, a camp, a writing week, a family stay or something we cannot yet name.

What would you like to bring to life at Dalslands Studio?

1. Seminars aligned with the profile of Dalslands Studio.

At Dalslands Studio, we run seminars that combine critical thinking, inner spaciousness and personal reorientation – with plenty of time for conversation, movement and nature.

For 2027, we are looking for organisers who would like to offer multi-day seminars on topics such as:

  • Critical thinking and social responsibility
  • Autism, neurodiversity and self-advocacy
  • Mindfulness, bodywork and regeneration in everyday life
  • Creative and professional reorientation

The venue offers space for small groups, confidential settings and intensive support – previous programmes such as ‘Thinking, Feeling, Being’, the autSide workshop camp and ‘Hellwach – Wide Awake’ demonstrate how well this format suits the venue and its ethos.

Interested in running a seminar in 2027?

Please get in touch with a brief outline of your seminar format, target audience and preferred time (spring, summer or autumn) at:

2. Weekly stays for groups

The studio can be booked exclusively by groups for a week as a seminar and retreat space. Possible examples include:

  • Small teams who want to really get to grips with their issues away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life;
  • Initiatives and associations seeking to clarify their strategy, direction or collaboration;
  • Study groups or peer communities wishing to engage in in-depth discussions.

We provide the venue, the facilities and – by arrangement – support activities such as facilitated focus groups, movement sessions, simple yoga sessions or creative workshops.

For group bookings in 2027:

Please email us with details of your group size (approx. 6–12 people), your preferred dates and your objectives to:

3. Family Life on the Autism Spectrum

Through the Hajo Seng Academy and the autSide Camp, the Dalslands Studio aims to establish itself as a place where autistic people and their allies are taken seriously and where their strengths can be recognised.

In 2027, we would like to specifically invite families on the autism spectrum, or those with relatives on the spectrum, to spend a week at the studio – with plenty of peace and quiet, clear structures and the opportunity to have their needs taken truly seriously.

Possible formats:

  • A week’s family holiday with clear daily routines, quiet spaces and nature
  • Small, facilitated discussion groups for parents or adult relatives
  • Optional one-to-one sessions to provide guidance on topics such as school, work and everyday life

The surroundings (water, woodland, the small island of Öa) offer less stimulating environments than many urban settings; at the same time, we take care to ensure that routines are transparent and predictable.

Interested in a family week in 2027?

Please feel free to write to us detailing your circumstances (e.g. number of people, age range, special requirements) so that we can suggest suitable time slots and options:

4. Writing retreats – focused writing in Dalsland

There is already a vibrant writing scene in the area around Dals Långed; at the same time, the studio offers precisely the blend of tranquillity, nature and inspiring spaces that writing often requires.

For 2027, we are planning several writing retreat weeks, open to:

  • People working on a book, academic texts or artistic projects
  • Writers who wish to reflect on and structure their own creative process
  • Small writing groups who want to work on their projects together

Depending on the group, elements such as quiet writing sessions, peer feedback, walks, simple physical exercises or short focus groups may be included – or you may choose to use the house primarily as a peaceful setting to follow your own rhythm.

If you’d like to plan a writing retreat in 2027:

Get in touch with details of your project, your preferred duration (e.g. 5 or 7 days) and whether you’d like guidance or inspiration:

5. A week away from the stresses of everyday life

Many of our previous guests use Dalslands Studio as a place to step away from the pressures of work or daily life for a few days and get a breath of fresh air.

For 2027, we are therefore specifically offering ‘A week’s respite from the stresses of everyday life’ – without a complicated programme, but featuring:

  • Clear daily routines, plenty of time for quiet moments and nature
  • Opportunities for light exercise or yoga sessions
  • Optional one-to-one sessions to reflect on work, relationships or life decisions

If you wish, you can combine your stay with an existing seminar or camp week – if you’re simply looking for peace and quiet, you’re free to organise your week largely as you wish.
