New community space ‘Tjo-ho!’ opens in Dals Langed

Tjô-Ho is here – the new “living room for community” by Studio Växt in Dals Långed. During the opening, repair workshop, and ramen evening, it became clear how naturally craftsmanship, sustainability, and shared meals come together.

At the House Warming of Tjô-Ho, the new community space of Studio Växt in Dals Långed, there were four days of celebration, exhibitions, and shared learning. Tjô-Ho sees itself as a “living room for community” – a place for meeting, learning, events, and of course, good food.

The event kicked off with an opening reception. The new space was filled with artworks and furniture designed by members of Studio Växt. On Friday and throughout the weekend, a housewarming exhibition opened as part of the Craft Days Festival programme, accompanied by workshops that brought together the culture of repair, craftsmanship and culinary experiences.

Andreas was at the housewarming party and took part in the workshop ‘Laga, lappa, skratta’ led by craft artist Anna Robinson. There, she demonstrated four of her most frequently used repair techniques – an invitation not to throw away damaged clothes, but to preserve them with patience and creativity. Andreas darned a large hole in a sock, and the focused, repetitive hand movements had an almost meditative effect. What seemed like a mundane task became a quiet moment of presence, care and shared knowledge.

The weekend continued in the same vein: on Saturday, participants had the chance to carve their own chopsticks alongside carpenter Joe Clark, and later put them to the test during a communal ramen meal – cooked by Biba SJ from the team behind the Studio Växt lunches. All events were free of charge and multilingual; from the outset, Tjô-Ho proved to be an open space where craftsmanship, sustainability, communal dining and neighbourhood life intertwine in a natural way.
